The TriDad Life

I am a new Dad, and I like to race in triathlons. This is my blog about trying to do both and enjoy life.

Dear Beanpod – We’re Ready

Dear Beanpod,

The blocks are telling us that there are 76 days until your arrival. Of course, this is just an estimate. We don’t know exactly when that will be yet. That’s really up to you and the Big Man.

Something changed for me this week. A question popped into my head one morning – “If the baby came today, how would you feel?” A sense of excitement and pure joy instantly hit me with the thought.

I know now that I’m ready for you. WE are READY for you.

Sure, we don’t have everything lined up yet. We don’t have all the money put in all the right places. We don’t have your nursery built. Our house is starting to fill up with boxes and there seem to be a half a dozen projects piling up that are all half done. I don’t have my “hospital bag” packed yet!

But if God woke me up this morning and gave me a choice to take you home today or wait until the “countdown blocks” reached their terminus, I’d take today because I really can’t wait.

Because I know we are ready. Because I know it will be ok.

Sure, a lot of the “stuff” isn’t, but the “good stuff” is already here. Has been for quite awhile. We’ve got grandmas and grandpas. We’ve got friends and family. We’ve got neighbors that will help us fix stuff (you’ll find this happens a lot out here in the Heights…).

We are ready to love you and take care of you. I’m pretty sure that’s the most important thing we need.

See you soon, Beanpod. We’re ready for you.

Love,

Your Dad
