The TriDad Life

I am a new Dad, and I like to race in triathlons. This is my blog about trying to do both and enjoy life.

Dear Beanpod,

Two years ago today, your Mother and I returned to Michigan from a significant trip to Montana that directly intersects with your life story.

It was on this trip to Montana that we decided we wanted to become more than just two individual people. We decided that we wanted to spend our lives together, to build a life, and yes, to build a family.

Your Mom is an amazing person. There are many things I love about her. It has been fun to be with someone that loves to adventure as much as I do…sometimes it seems maybe even more so. Our engagement on a hike in the mountains while passing deer and moose and bears is a good example of the type of life we have enjoyed together, and that eventually we envision we can share with you.

It can be easy to get cynical as things in life become “regular.” However, when you look around and try to be present, the world is a wonderful and beautiful place full of things to explore and to be awed.

While we won’t find ourselves surrounded by the majesty of Glacier National Park every day, we hope that every day we can try to appreciate the wonder of God’s creation. I mean, there is plenty of wildlife right here in Tuscola Heights – sometimes they even crash into your house uninvited!

Still, the special trips like this one to Montana just give us even more reason to be awed by this world we live in. Those memories serve you so well for all the years of your life.

Your Mom and I can’t wait to take you exploring!

See you soon, Beanpod.

Love,

Your Dad
